Foreign Minister discusses developments in the region and strategic partnership in Qatar

Developments in the wider region, as well as the strategic importance of the partnership between the Republic of Cyprus and Qatar, were discussed during the meeting held in Qatar between Foreign Affairs Minister Constantinos Kombos and Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

According to a press release by the Foreign Affairs Ministry, during the 7 April meeting, they exchanged views on developments in the wider region, as well as the strategic importance of the partnership between the Republic of Cyprus and Qatar.

Kombos underlined "the unwavering and steadfast solidarity of the Republic of Cyprus, in light of the unjustified attacks against Qatar and its partners in the Gulf."

In addition, the press release says, they stressed the need for close coordination, strengthening maritime security and ensuring energy resilience, as key factors for maintaining stability in the region. 

The press release says that it was noted that diplomacy, restraint and dialogue constitute the only viable path to de-escalating tensions and consolidating regional stability.
