Invest Cyprus presented the results and actions of 2024 and 2025 during its 2026 Annual General Meeting, held on Friday, 13 March 2026. The results confirm the strong reinforcement of Cyprus’ investment position, the significant contribution of foreign investment to the economy, and the pivotal role of the Organisation in attracting foreign investment, as well as in the continuous expansion of the economic footprint of foreign companies and investors.
2024 was a year of particularly strong performance, with Cyprus recording gross foreign direct investment inflows of €8.5 billion, an increase of approximately 60%, while ranking 2nd in the European Union and securing a place among the global top ten in foreign direct investment per capita. At the same time, €2.6 billion in investments were directed to the technology sector (ICT), strengthening the country’s rapidly growing technology ecosystem.
Invest Cyprus actively contributed to this momentum, recording more than 70 quality letters of intent for investment, advancing 12 major investments, while more than 420 companies established operations in Cyprus through the Business Support Centre.
Another important milestone was the first comprehensive study on the economic impact of foreign investment, prepared by the Economics Research Centre of the University of Cyprus. According to the study, the inflows of new foreign investment in a single year contribute 3.3% to GDP and 4% to employment. In addition, the study showed that technology companies resulting from foreign investment contribute 11% to the country’s GDP, highlighting the role of foreign investment in creating new sectors of economic activity within the framework of implementing the “Vision 2035” action plan.
In 2025, an extensive international outreach programme was implemented, including presidential missions to Canada, New York, and San Francisco, as well as a high-level business visit from India accompanying the country’s Prime Minister.
At the same time, significant strategic partnerships were promoted, such as the establishment of the India-Greece-Cyprus Business and Investment Council, the formation of a Business and Investment Council between the UAE and Cyprus, and the strengthening of trilateral cooperation between Greece, Egypt, and Cyprus.
During the reporting period, the Organisation provided support to approximately 800 existing and prospective companies, making a substantial contribution to strengthening the country’s investment ecosystem.
For 2026, Invest Cyprus places particular emphasis on the international promotion of the country through cooperation with the Financial Times, with a series of targeted events in London and New York aimed at further strengthening Cyprus’ presence in markets of high strategic importance. At the same time, in cooperation with the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a business and investment mission is being prepared in the context of the official visit of the President of the Republic to India.
In parallel, Invest Cyprus is contributing to the strengthening and support of the Cypriot defence industry through contacts and partnerships with companies from India, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Spain, among others, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the private sector.
In the current geopolitical environment, particular importance is also being given to the formulation of unified and credible messages to the international business community. In this context, a coordinated international communication initiative is being launched immediately, in cooperation with the Presidency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and private sector stakeholders, with the support of the Organisation’s international advisers, carrying the core message that Cyprus remains a safe and stable country.
As part of the Annual General Meeting, Invest Cyprus congratulated the new Board of Directors on assuming its duties, expressing confidence that it will make a meaningful contribution to the continuation of the Organisation’s development path and to the further strengthening of Cyprus’ international investment profile.
The Chairman of Invest Cyprus, Evgenios Evgeniou, stated, “The Annual General Meeting is an important opportunity for review and strategic direction. The results of 2024 and 2025 confirm that Cyprus is steadily strengthening its position on the international investment map and that Invest Cyprus plays a substantial role in attracting quality investment, supporting international businesses, and highlighting the advantages of our country. Warm congratulations to the new Board of Directors. I am confident that with consistency and a clear strategic direction we will continue to strengthen the Organisation’s mission.”
On his part, the Minister of Finance, Makis Keravnos, stated: “The attraction of quality foreign investment is a key pillar of the Government’s economic policy. The results presented at the Annual General Meeting confirm Cyprus’ momentum as an investment destination and the importance of the work carried out by Invest Cyprus in promoting the country abroad, facilitating investors, and strengthening the competitiveness of our economy. The continuation of a targeted strategy with steady and credible messages is of decisive importance for maintaining this positive course.”
