Tourist overnight stays increase by 4.4% in Cyprus in 2025, according to Eurostat

Tourist nights in accommodation establishments in Cyprus increased by 4.4% in 2025 compared with 2024, according to data published by Eurostat.

In absolute figures, total overnight stays in Cyprus reached 18,704,653 in 2025, up from 17,909,481 in 2024, marking an increase of 795,172 nights, or 4.4% on an annual basis. The highest monthly figure in 2025 was recorded in August, with 2,953,148 overnight stays.

According to the statistical office, at European Union level, 2025 was another record year for tourism, with nearly 3.1 billion nights spent in tourist accommodation establishments. This represents a 2.2% increase compared with 2024, equivalent to an additional 66.4 million overnight stays.

Nights spent by international visitors rose by 3.4% (+49.7 million), while nights spent by domestic visitors increased by 1.1% (+16.7 million).

A total of 61.7% of all overnight stays in the EU were concentrated in four Member States: Spain (513.6 million), Italy (476.9 million), France (471.7 million) and Germany (442.1 million). By contrast, the lowest figures were recorded in Luxembourg (3.6 million), Latvia (5.0 million) and Estonia (6.7 million).

Based on Eurostat’s monthly data, overnight stays increased in 24 of the 27 EU Member States in 2025. The largest increases were recorded in Malta (+10.1% compared with 2024) and Poland (+7.2%), while declines were registered in Luxembourg (-2.4%), Romania (-1.7%) and Ireland (-0.4%).

In the fourth quarter of 2025, the number of overnight stays in the EU rose by 3.0% compared with the same quarter of 2024, with increases observed in 25 Member States. The highest growth rates were recorded in Ireland (+12.0%) and Malta (+10.9%), while decreases were noted in Romania (-4.6%) and Luxembourg (-0.4%).
