Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices up 1.2% in January

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rose by 1.2% between January 2025 and January 2026, according to data published by CySTAT.

Compared to January 2025, the categories Recreation, Sports and Culture (5.8%), Restaurants and Accommodation Services (4.8%) and Educational Services (3.4%) showed the largest increases.

The largest drop was observed in the category Clothing and Footwear (-6.2%).

Compared with December 2025, HICP recorded a decrease of 0.3%. The largest increase was recorded in the category Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (3.7%) and the largest decrease in the category Clothing and Footwear (-12.1%).

The largest increase in the economic categories compared with January 2025 was observed in Services (4.3%), while the largest decrease was recorded in Energy (- 6.5%). Compared with the previous month, decrease was recorded in Non-Energy Industrial Goods (-3.7%).
