The number of unemployed persons in January 2026 dropped 3.8%, or 497 persons, compared to January 2025, according to CySTAT.
The number of unemployed persons, registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of January 2026, reached 12,650 persons.
Based on the seasonally adjusted data which reflect the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for January 2026 decreased to 9,848 persons, in comparison to 9,863 in the previous month.
In comparison with January 2025, a decrease of 497 persons or 3.8% was recorded.
This decrease is mainly attributed to the sectors of construction, accommodation and food service activities, trade, manufacturing, as well as to the decrease recorded for newcomers in the labour market.
