Research Deputy Minister participating in WGS 2026 in Dubai

Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Nicodemos Damianou is participating in the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2026, which is taking place in Dubai until 5 February, according to an announcement by the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy.

Damianou’s participation in the Summit, follows an official invitation, it said.

It is noted that the World Governments Summit is a high-level international organisation, which brings together leaders and officials of states and governments, as well as executives of international organisations and businesses. “The central theme for 2026 is ‘Shaping Future Governments’, while particular emphasis is placed on the areas of technology and artificial intelligence, education, sustainability and economic resilience”, it adds.

According to the announcement, the Deputy Minister will participate in a roundtable discussion on 'GovTech for the Benefit of People and Business', during which the role of technology in the modernization of public administration and in improving service to citizens and businesses will be discussed, as well as the importance of expanding international cooperation in this field.

While in Dubai, the Deputy Minister is to hold a bilateral meeting with his German counterpart Dr Karsten Wildberger, Minister for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation, while he will also hold contacts with UAE government officials and representatives of the business world, it said.
