President Christodoulides, ministers, and business delegation travelling to India in May

President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides has described his visit to India in May as particularly important, noting that companies from that country are already investing in Cyprus. He also revealed that he will be accompanied by Ministers and a business delegation.

Asked about the importance of this visit, in his statements on the sidelines of a presidential meeting of the Eurochambers organised in Nicosia by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCCI), President Christodoulides said,  "I consider the invitation from the Prime Minister of India to be a particularly important development. He was in Cyprus, and within less than a year, he has officially invited us to India."

"In fact, the trip will include New Delhi, as well as Mumbai, which is the business centre of India, and I will go there with a business delegation," he said, noting that a business forum will also be organised.

He said that at the same time, being accompanied by several Ministers, he and the delegation would have several issues on the agenda and, following the recent announcements by the President of the European Commission and the President of the European Council who were in India for the country's Independence Day celebrations and announced the completion of negotiations for the trade agreement, he considered it particularly important.

"We see it after Prime Minister Modi's visit to Cyprus - India is approaching Cyprus as an entry into the EU, into the single market in a market of 450 million," Christodoulides said.

"And we have already seen investments in our country from Indian companies, and in this context I consider the visit particularly important," he concluded.
