Contracts signed for direct flights to Brussels with Aegean ahead of Cyprus' EU Council Presidency

The Department of Civil Aviation has signed an agreement with AEGEAN Airlines SA for the operation of direct Larnaca-Brussels-Larnaca flights, within the framework of the Public Service Obligation (PSO) mechanism.

The agreement was signed, on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus, by the Director of the Department of Civil Aviation, Panayiota Demetriou, and on behalf of AEGEAN, by Dona Sparsis,  Aegean's Station Director at Larnaka Aiport, in the presence of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeades, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Dr. Marina Ioannou Hasapi, as well as the Director of the Secretariat of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) 2026, Demetris Mavrommatis.

The contract, which will enter into force on 1 December, 2025 and expire on 30 November, 2026, provides for:

  • 3 return flights per week for December 2025
  • 5 return flights per week for the period January-June 2026
  • 3 return flights per week for July 2026
  • 2 return flights per week for the period August-November 2026.

The maximum basic fully flexible economy class fare is set at €400 per route and includes any additional charges added by the economic operator (service fees, fuel, one checked baggage of 20-23 kg, meal).

The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works stated in this regard, "Today's signing ensures a reliable and stable connection between Cyprus and Brussels in view of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU.

It strengthens our country's access to European decision-making centers and serves the essential needs of citizens, professionals and institutions.

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works is working consistently to strengthen Cyprus' international air connectivity for the benefit of the economy and the daily lives of citizens."
