Yangos Hadjiyannis, the CEO of CIM - Cyprus Business School, recently shared his career journey approach to doing business and what initially inspired him to take on the role at the business school.
In the Trailblazers Podcast series by payabl., part of INSPIRE 2025, Hadjiyannis details his first steps with studies in law and how he then decided to shift his career and join the family-business at CIM.
Hadjiyannis discusses his leadership style, with which he has guided CIM since 2023 after starting there 17 years ago, and, among other things, he notes that when it was time for crucial decisions to be made, "People want to see their leaders inspire them, guide them," and help them feel safe.
“I always try to look at the bigger picture and provide space and authority to my staff so they can make decisions…I’m not into micromanagement,” he also says, but also notes that, for leaders, "troubleshooting is a crucial skill to have."
Discussing tough decisions, Hadjiyannis shares the opinion that there is a need to be adaptable and invest in the correct systems. He notes that these investments helped during COVID-19, where it was possible to make quick decisions and adapt to going online.
