Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation & Digital Policy Nicodemos Damianou met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Cyprus, Fawaz Alshubaili to discuss matters of common interest.
“A timely opportunity to discuss our cooperation so far and to explore the next concrete steps for strengthening our partnership,” Damianou posted on social media after the meeting.
He said Cyprus values its strong bilateral ties with Saudi Arabia and stands ready to further deepen ties.
“As the first EU Member State to join the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), and ahead of Cyprus’ Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2026, we see a significant opportunity to further enhance EU–Saudi and EU–GCC relations in the digital and innovation sphere,” Damianou added.
The meeting aimed to align priorities, confirm areas of mutual interest, and outline a clear roadmap towards an even closer collaboration in the near future, he concluded.
