The business elite of Cyprus found themselves at the centre of a grand gathering of over 700 guests at an event that highlighted the challenges and opportunities of the local and international economy.
The 9th Business Leaders Summit 2025, organised by the Bank of Cyprus at the Hilton Nicosia, once again became the premier meeting point for business leaders, senior executives and professionals, confirming the strategic importance of business dialogue on the island.
The completely successful event began with the introductory speech by Xenios Konomis, the Director of Corporate and SME Banking Division, Bank of Cyprus, who set the framework for the discussion, focusing on contemporary economic challenges and development prospects for Cyprus and Greece.
Subsequently, a roundtable discussion brought together two of the most distinguished personalities in the business scene: Evangelos Mytilineos, Chairman and CEO of METLEN Energy & Metals, and Takis Arapoglou, Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Cyprus.
The presence of Evangelos Mytilineos added particular momentum to the event, underlining the important role of Cyprus as a business hub and the connection to international markets and strategic approaches.
In the context of his participation, Mytilineos referred to the meeting he had with the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, noting in particular the agreement between them for co-productions between Cyprus and Greece with defence as a central axis.
He specifically emphasised METLEN's strong interest in contributing to the development of the Cypriot defence industry, inviting Cypriot companies to participate in collaborations and receive know-how.
Participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas, network and explore new trends in innovation, sustainable development and business strategy.
The summit concluded with closing comments by Panicos Nicolaou, CEO of Bank of Cyprus, which highlighted the bank's role in supporting entrepreneurship and promoting strategies that enhance the country's competitiveness. "The great challenges of the era and the harmful toxicity in the public sector," one of the many resounding messages he sent to society and the state.
