The Limassol District Local Government Organisation (EOA Limassol) and the University of Limassol (UoL) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, aiming to expand and further enhance the already successful technological and scientific collaboration between the two institutions.
The Memorandum was signed by Yiannis Tsouloftas, President of EOA Limassol, and Prof. Theodore Panayotou, Rector of the UoL.
Also present at the signing ceremony were Socrates Metaxas, General Manager of EOA Limassol, Ioanna Christou, Financial Director, and other senior officials of the organisation. Representing UoL were Ioanna Panayiotou, Chief Operating Officer, and Dimitris Tsiropoulos, Director of the CIIM Bioeconomia Center.
Purpose and scope of the cooperation
The primary goal of the Memorandum is to establish a stable and long-term framework of collaboration between the University of Limassol and EOA Limassol in areas of mutual interest that promote research, innovation, and sustainable development.
The agreement covers, among others, the following areas:
- Participation in European research and innovation programs and projects
- Education and human capital development
- Provision of advisory services
- Preparation of studies and scientific papers
- Organisation of joint activities, workshops and events
Additionally, the Memorandum foresees the potential expansion of cooperation into any other field deemed mutually beneficial and agreed upon by both parties.

The signing of this Memorandum represents a significant step forward in strengthening cooperation between the academic community, local government, and the wider Limassol community, with a shared vision of progress, innovation, research, sustainable development, and digital transformation.
