Invest Cyprus elected as WAIPA Regional Director for Eastern Europe for 2025–2027

Invest Cyprus has been elected as a Regional Director of WAIPA for Eastern Europe. 

In a post on LinkedIn, Invest Cyprus CEO Marios Tannousis said, "Overwhelmed with gratitude! Invest Cyprus is honoured to have been elected as the Regional Director for Eastern Europe at the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA)."

He went on to thank all the WAIPA members for their trust and support, adding, "Invest Cyprus is committed to serving the investment community and fostering collaboration across the region. Looking forward to working together to drive investmnet and economic growth!"

The WAIPA General Assembly and Steering Committee elections were held in Sharjah as part of the 29th WAIPA World Investment Conference 2025 in conjuction with Sharjah Investment Forum.

Members gathered to elect the WAIPA's new President, Vice Presidents, and Regional Directors.

According to a WAIPA post, meanwhile, the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) was elected as President of WAIPA, with Mohammed Mulla Yaqoub, Acting Director General for Business Development Affairs at KDIPA, assuming the presidency.

The Center for Exports and Investment of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana) and Invest KOREA were elected as Vice Presidents, representing the diversity and strength of WAIPA’s global membership.

The Regional Directorships confirmed for the 2025–2027 term were:

- Sub-Saharan Africa: Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC)

- MENA: Algerian Investment Promotion Agency الوكالة الجزائرية لترقية الإستثمار

- South Asia: BOARD OF INVESTMENT Pakistan

- Oceania: Investment Fiji

- Europe: Enterprise Greece SA

- Eastern Europe:  Invest Cyprus - CIPA

- Central America & Caribbean: National Investment Council Honduras

WAIPA Executive Director and CEO, Ismail Ersahin, congratulated the new leadership, “Under KDIPA’s leadership, we look forward to building on our mission to strengthen the global community of IPAs, enhance cooperation across regions, and ensure IPAs are equipped to attract sustainable and impactful investment.”

In his address, Mohamed Mulla Yaqoub reaffirmed KDIPA’s commitment to advancing collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing among IPAs worldwide, emphasizing a shared vision to promote sustainable investment and economic diversification.

"The elections set a strong tone for the days ahead of the WIC2025 where global leaders from 140 countries will gather to shape the future of investment promotion in an era of transformation," the post concluded.
