The Greek Pet City Group has acquired a stake in Cypriot companies AP Pet People Limited and Mantz Services Limited.
According to the notification published by the Commission for the protection of Competition (CPC), Pet City Group S.A. is a duly registered company under Greek law. Its core business activity is the sale of pet food and products, as well as the provision of pet care services.
AP Pet People Limited is registered Cyprus, and engaged in providing pet grooming and care services, as well as in the import and sale of pet food, accessories, and other items related to the nutrition, health, and grooming of animals.
Mantz Services Limited (PetFood) is also a Cyprus-registered company, active in the retail sale of pet products and accessories.
Pet City: Three million customers and over 100 corporate stores
Pet City Group is a family-owned business founded in 1988. Between 1988 and 1995, the company operated in the wholesale trade of pet products, serving more than 1,200 pet shops across Greece. However, in 1996, its focus shifted to retail, specialising in the import and sale of pet food and accessories.
Today, Pet City employs approximately 800 people, serves 3 million customers and runs 100+ corporate-owned stores. One of the most distinctive features of these stores is their size, ranging from 200 m² to 2,000 m².
In addition, Pet City offers over 15,000 products, including items from globally recognised and reputable brands.
How Pet People stands out
Pet People was established in 2011 promising to make pet ownership more convenient and affordable. The company’s staff is highly trained and follows strict guidelines when caring for customers’ pets.
In a recent interview with InBusinessNews, Alexandros Potamitis, owner of Pet People – one of Cyprus’ leading retailers of high-quality pet products, achieving double-digit annual growth – highlighted the remarkable expansion of the Cypriot pet market in recent years.
Pet People is an authentic one-stop shop for pet parents, operating seven stores in Limassol, Nicosia, and Larnaca, as well as a veterinary clinic, grooming salons, a dog hotel, and a wide range of specialised services, including pet taxi and pet sitting services.
The year 2025 marked a period of rapid growth for Pet People, which opened two new stores: Pet People Athalassas (January) and Super Pets by Pet People (August). At the same time, it launched its new online store, petfoodcyprus.com.
Operating under the umbrella of Mantz Services Limited, the online store was launched in 2019 by a team of pet lovers in Cyprus. Each team member participates actively in all stages – from warehouse operations to customer service – sharing a common goal: complete customer satisfaction.
