The Press Conference for the upcoming Cyprus Forum 2025 took place on Wednesday 24 September 2025, at the Stelios Foundation in Nicosia. The event brought together journalists and media representatives, providing details about this year’s programme and objectives.
The Cyprus Forum 2025, which will be held from 1 to 3 October, will bring together senior government officials and politicians, academics, business leaders, and representatives of civil society to discuss the major challenges facing Cyprus, Europe, and the wider region. This year’s conference will cover issues such as democratic resilience, the energy transition, Cyprus’ European perspective, tackling corruption, and international geopolitical balances. During the Press Conference, the organisers presented this year’s theme, objectives, and activities.
Georgia Athanasiou, Chair of the Board of Oxygen for Democracy, referred to the key themes and issues to be addressed at this year’s Cyprus Forum, including democratic resilience, foreign policy, and social cohesion, among others.
Nicolas Kyriakides, Executive President of the Cyprus Forum, stressed the importance of dialogue in strengthening democracy, to which the Cyprus Forum contributes. Among other things, he highlighted the expansion of the Cyprus Forum’s network of events in Europe and beyond, particularly in light of Cyprus’ forthcoming Presidency of the Council of the EU.
For his part, George Isaia, Executive Director of Oxygen for Democracy, presented the organisation’s upcoming initiatives, which include the Parliamentary Assessment Index, the political magazine Policypress, a working visit to the Hellenic Parliament to showcase and exchange best practices in public consultation, bicommunal consultations in Cyprus, as well as the establishment of the Advisory Committee supporting the organisation’s activities.
The conference highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation in addressing modern challenges and confirmed the anticipated dynamism of Cyprus Forum 2025 – which is expected to serve as a vibrant hub of ideas, discussions, and initiatives.
Next week, Nicosia is once again set to become a centre of dialogue on democracy, sustainable development, and peace.
