Dmitry Bagrov, Managing Director at DataArt UK, leads strategic growth and innovation across sectors including finance, travel, and media.
Speaking at INSPIRE 2035 on The Global Entrepreneur Stage, during the panel Technology Entrepreneurs: Turning Cyprus into a Global Technology and Innovation Hub, Bagrov shared insights from his 25-year career in technology.
“I came for the weather, obviously,” he joked, reflecting on how his career began when cloud technology was still “something in the sky.” Over the decades, he has watched DataArt grow organically, navigating challenges across international markets.
One key challenge, he explained, is transferring company culture during expansion: “You build a company culture organically, not through acquisition. You want it preserved across cities. Building trust isn’t a one-time effort — you have to maintain it and do things that unite people in different countries. It pays back massively.”
Bagrov revealed how DataArt’s presence in Cyprus began almost by accident: “When the war started, many people were displaced and ended up here. Cyprus feels like a nonstop networking event. It’s positioned as a bridge between Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, and it’s doing a fantastic job. There’s also huge potential for academic and research collaboration beyond the EU.”
For Bagrov, Cyprus represents both strategic opportunity and a dynamic environment where business culture, collaboration, and innovation thrive.
