Knowledge, perseverance, faith and a continuous struggle to achieve your goal are the necessary ingredients on the road to success, according to the Executive Chairman of the Zorbas Group, Costas Zorpas.
Speaking in the context of INSPIRE 2025, in a panel discussion entitled 'The Leaders Behind the Business,' Zorbas stated that problems exist on a daily basis, but they can be overcome with proper management and strength.
"By gritting your teeth and loving what you do, the only sure thing is that you will overcome them and move on to the next stage," he noted.
Asked to define the success story of an entrepreneur, he explained that success is not related to achievements, but to a clear conscience.
"What we have achieved is not a success. Success is going to sleep peacefully at night, without having upset anyone, being aware that you are carrying thousands of people on your shoulders, your staff who are struggling daily to survive," Costas Zorbas emphasised, underlining the importance of an employer showing special attention and care to employees.
"Be yourself, my son"
At the same time, the Executive Chairman of the Zorpa Group would advise an entrepreneur to have knowledge of the subject, as well as perseverance, love and dedication to what they choose to do, while also sharing the advice given to him by his father, from whom he drew his love and knowledge of baking.
"The most important thing is to be yourself. My father used to say, 'Son, be yourself, show it off.' Fight, to do what we want to do with love and take responsibility for it," Zorbas said.
Perseverance until the goal is achieved
Also characteristic was his report on the failures and obstacles that an entrepreneur may encounter until they achieves their goal.
"In life, you may be given ten keys to open one door. You have to try them all until that door opens. Success may not come on the first, second, or third try, but it takes perseverance and struggle until you succeed," he emphasised, among other things.
