For another year, Medicover Genetics Cyprus has proudly offered an internship in memory of Dr. Antonis Antoniou, giving a young scientist the opportunity to complete their training at the Company’s pioneering Research & Development Department in Nicosia.
This year’s paid internship was awarded to Christiana Kkone, a graduate of the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Brunel University, London. The two-month internship (July–August 2025) enabled Christiana to collaborate with Medicover Genetics’ internationally distinguished scientific team and gain hands-on experience in innovative research projects conducted in the company’s state-of-the-art laboratories.
The internship is designed to foster scientific growth, professional development, and exposure to the most advanced methods in the field of genetic medicine. Through this initiative, Medicover Genetics reaffirms its commitment to supporting the next generation of scientists and promoting excellence in research.
This initiative is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Antonis Antoniou, a highly respected and beloved member of the former NIPD Genetics Research & Development team, now part of Medicover Genetics. Dr. Antoniou was distinguished for his integrity, kindness, scientific excellence, and dedication to advancing research and science. He passed away unexpectedly on 14 August 2021, leaving an indelible mark that continues to inspire young scientists.
Since its launch in 2022, the internship has been awarded to graduates who have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD studies in Biology or related Life Sciences fields, with laboratory experience in Molecular Biology, Human Genetics, or Cancer Biology.
