Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanolis participated in International Shipping Week 2025 in London, at the invitation of her British counterpart, also using the opportunity to promote Cyprus' shipping sector.
As part of her visit, she took part in a panel of the 17th annual Capital Link Shipping & Marine Services Forum, on the topic of ‘Shipping in a New Era’, where, together with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy of Greece, Vasilis Kikilias, as well as ship-owner Dr. Nikolaos Tsakos, they discussed shipping in the new era.


At the same time, the Deputy Minister delivered a speech entitled ‘When Women Lead’, co -organised by WISTA UK and Seatrade Maritime News, highlighting the role of women in global shipping leadership, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, Arsenio Dominguez .


During her stay, the Deputy Minister hosted a reception at the High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in London as well as a press conference, presenting the comparative advantages and development prospects of the Cypriot maritime complex.
Additionally, the Deputy Minister attended a British government reception where she had the opportunity to discuss the development of Cypriot shipping with, among others, Princess Anne of Great Britain, the British Minister of Transport, as well as her British counterpart.




On the sidelines of her visit, Hadjimanolis attended a dinner in her honour, organised by the National Federation of Cypriots in the United Kingdom. During the event, issues concerning the further development of the Cyprus registry and the Cyprus shipping complex were discussed, among others.


In addition, the Deputy Minister made a series of important contacts to further promote Cypriot shipping, and also to support Cyprus' candidacy in the upcoming elections of the International Maritime Organization.
In this context, Hadjimanolis also had meetings with shipowners of shipping companies based in London. During the discussions, the possibilities of registering ships of the companies under the Cyprus flag were examined, with the shipowners expressing particular interest in strengthening their cooperation with the Deputy Ministry of Shipping.
