The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow level warning for extreme maximum temperature on Thursday, 21 August.
The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 40 degrees Celsius over inland areas and around 32 degrees over the higher mountainous areas.
The warning is valid from noon to 5pm.
