Logicom Solutions, in collaboration with Google Cloud, recently hosted a high-impact cybersecurity event in Limassol.
The event brought together senior professionals and experts from leading organisations across key sectors of the Cypriot economy — including government, banking, insurance and financial services, shipping, energy, tourism, and healthcare — reflecting the growing importance of strengthening digital resilience.
Held under the title “Smarter, Stronger, Safer, Resilient: Is Your Cybersecurity Next-Gen?”, the event followed the success of a similar gathering in Athens, in May. It further enhanced Logicom Solutions and Google Cloud’s collaborative efforts to promote next-generation cybersecurity solutions powered by artificial intelligence and advanced risk analysis technologies.
The event was opened by Chrysostomos Kritiotis, Managing Director of Logicom Solutions, who stated: "In today’s digital landscape, cybersecurity is not optional – it is a necessity. It is a foundational pillar for growth, reputation and resilience. Demetris Skourides, Chief Scientist of the Republic of Cyprus, highlighted artificial intelligence as a national priority and outlined Cyprus’ strategic vision for leveraging AI to drive innovation, enhance digital resilience and support economic development.
Benjamin Witorsch, Political, Economic, and Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Cyprus, presented the United States' approach to cybersecurity, highlighting the importance of international collaboration, trusted vendors in digital infrastructure, and strong public-private coordination in addressing modern global cyber threats.
Costas Efthymiou, Senior Cybersecurity Engineer at the Digital Security Authority, stressed the importance of regulatory readiness and national resilience frameworks. He provided valuable insights into Cyprus' evolving cybersecurity infrastructure.
The event also featured expert contributions from Cosmin Pascu, Public Sector Customer Engineer at Google Cloud; Charis Florides, Director of Business Consulting Services at Logicom Solutions; and Alexander Papantonatos, Customer Engineer at Google Cloud. Throughout the sessions, specialists from Google Cloud and Logicom Solutions presented state-of-the-art approaches and next-generation cybersecurity tools and frameworks, including:
- AI-driven threat detection,
- Security Operations Centers (SOC),
- Zero Trust architecture,
- Compliance with the DORA and NIS2 regulatory frameworks.
