XM pledges €5m for wildfire victims

Limassol-based fintech XM has announced a commitment of €5 million to support areas and residents severely affected by the devastating wildfires over the past two days, saying it was fully aware "of the gravity of the situation".

According to the company’s announcement, the financial assistance will be directed toward urgent frontline needs as well as long-term recovery efforts, based on a documented needs assessment. This assessment will be carried out in collaboration with relevant authorities and through on-site evaluations to ensure the targeted, transparent, and meaningful use of resources.

The intervention will be implemented in coordination with trusted partners and mechanisms, to ensure that aid reaches those who truly need it—swiftly and effectively.

In addition to the €5 million, XM is also launching wildfire prevention initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s preparedness and resilience, and at practically preventing future disasters. These efforts will also be carried out in collaboration with suitable partners.

When society is being tested, the business community can—and must—remain present, XM said. It added that XM stands by those in need, "with responsibility and respect”.
