Christodoulides' stern message on the Tax Reform - "By 1 January, no exceptions"

President Nikos Christodoulides has sent a strong message in all directions at the start of a meeting at the Presidential Palace on the subject of the Tax Reform.

Emphasising that "this is the last meeting convened in relation to the tax reform," Nikos Christodoulides announced that the tax reform will come into effect, irrevocably - as he put it - on 1 January 2026.

In this context, he indicated that "today all the issues we have before us are concluded, I also want to be informed about the preparation of the bills, so that we can move forward at the National Council level."

Referring to the next steps, the President of the Republic explained that, together with the Minister of Finance, he will provide a final update to the parties and the reform will be sent to Parliament, because - as Christodoulides made clear - it will be put into operation on 1 January 2026.

"And I do not accept any deviation from the date I mentioned above, 1 January 2026. So, today, whatever is pending will be discussed here and agreed upon, and we are proceeding as I mentioned above," he underlined.
