Industrial Production 1.9% in March

Cyprus’ industrial sector recorded an increase in March 2025, according to Cystat. The Industrial Production Index rose to 109.8 units (base year 2021=100), marking an annual increase of 1.9% compared to March 2024.

For the first quarter of the year, industrial production strengthened by 3.8% year-on-year.

The manufacturing sector recorded a 2.1% rise, while mining and quarrying activities increased by 5.4%. Electricity supply also recorded a slight increase of 0.7%, as did water supply and materials recovery with 0.6%.

Regarding manufacturing, the biggest annual gains were noted in the production of electronic, optical, and electrical equipment (+9.4%), the wood and cork industry (+6.8%), and the production of non-metallic mineral products (+5.8%).

On the other hand, declines were recorded in the production of textiles, clothing, and leather goods (-7.1%), paper manufacturing and printing (-6.1%), and the food and beverage industry (-0.1%).

Looking at the first quarter of 2025 (January–March), the highest increases were recorded in the production of non-metallic mineral products (+11.6%), technology manufacturing (+11.4%), water management (+11.1%), and mining and quarrying (+10%).

Declines were observed in paper production and printing (-9.2%), materials recovery (-3.1%), and the textile–clothing–leather industry (-2.8%).
