Lanitis Group CEO Costas Charitou joins the Cyprus Seeds Board of Directors

Lanitis Group CEO Costas Charitou has joined the Cyprus Seeds Board of Directors, the NGO has announced.

Cyprus Seeds is a non-profit organisation with the mission to support the commercialisation of scientific research projects with strong intellectual property (IP) value and global market potential, across Cypriot universities research institutions, and centers of excellence.

In a LinkedIn post, Cyprus Seeds said, "Thrilling update! Costas Charitou, CEO of Lanitis Group joins the Cyprus Seeds expert and dedicated Board of Directors! Mr. Charitou shares the business perspective of a well-established corporate brand and supports the practical applicability of scientific research to the local entrepreneurial ecosystem! Together we fuel groundbreaking solutions and provide a strategic advantage for Cyprus' innovation hub!"

In Charitou's profle on the Cyprus Seeds website, it is noted that, "Costas Charitou brings to Cyprus Seeds the business perspective of a well-established corporate brand, with strong, longstanding presence in the Cyprus market, and supports the practical applicability of scientific research to the local entrepreneurial ecosystem with the aim to produce measurable results."

As also note dthe website, Costas Charitou is the CEO of the Lanitis Group. He initially joined Lanitis E.C. Holdings in 2002 as Assistant to the Chairman in matters of Group Strategy and Business Development. He subsequently spent a year in Greece as the Managing Director of Lanitis Xylapo S.A., before returning to Cyprus in 2003 to become the CEO of N.P. Lanitis Ltd, a position he held until he was appointed Group CEO in 2012.

Charitou serves as Director on the Board of various companies, including Lanitis E.C. Holdings, Amathus Ltd, Lanitis Energy Ltd, Cybarco Holdings and Lanitis Golf Public Co. Ltd among others. In 2001, Charitou obtained a PhD in Strategy and Entrepreneurship from the London Business School. Prior to that, he worked as a Consultant at The World Bank in Washington, D.C.

Charitou also holds a MA in Mathematical Statistics and a BA in Economic Theory & Statistics (Double Major), both obtained from The American University, Washington, D.C., where he studied on a Fulbright scholarship.
