RSM Cyprus supports YPARXO on UN International Volunteer Day

RSM Cyprus, in collaboration with the Education and Rehabilitation Center YPARXO, celebrated UN International Volunteer Day on 5 December, with actions that inspired and highlighted the importance of giving back to society.

In the context of RSM World Day, which focused on "Time to give back", RSM Cyprus donated sports equipment to YPARXO, improving the organisation's gym facilities to support people with different abilities. At the same time, the RSM Cyprus team has carried out a series of activities with YPARXO so far, such as volunteer help in setting up the organisation's gym and supporting people with different abilities at the Radisson Blu International Marathon 2024, where they ran with them aiming the finish line.

“Volunteering and giving are what make a difference and inspire change”

However, to inspire this change, we must first understand how important our support and help are. To do so, we must first experience the world through the eyes of these athletes. Therefore, on 5 December, RSM Cyprus and YPARXO organised an awareness sports day during which distinguished YPARXO athletes, who participated in national and international sports competitions, took on the role of coaches.

The RSM Cyprus team had the opportunity to try Paralympic sports such as blindfold running, seated volleyball, shot put, javelin throw, relay race and para-cycling to experience some of the challenges these athletes face.

Managing Partner and CEO of RSM Cyprus, George Themistocleous, said: "Today, more than 64,000 people working in RSM around the world left their offices to offer hope and support to those in need. This day was a powerful reminder of these athletes' strength, resilience and determination. We can only express admiration for these individuals who, with passion and strength, persist in realising their dreams."

At the same time, Konstantinos Christou, co-founder of the Education and Rehabilitation Center YPARXO, states: "As part of the UN International Volunteer Day and RSM World Day, we organised a sports day which aimed to experience part of the daily life of our para-athletes, emphasising in this way that sports are for everyone and that through it, you can achieve a lot in your life as a person. I would like to warmly thank RSM Cyprus for its voluntary support in preparing our gym, its support in other organisational actions, and its donation of sports equipment".

It is worth mentioning that RSM has signed the UN Global Compact, focusing on five Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Good health and Well-being (SDG3), Quality Education (SDG4), Gender Equality (SDG5), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG8), Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG9). In addition to that, a core part of RSM's global Strategy until 2030 focuses on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) themes.

RSM Cyprus said it remains committed to creating a better future, and will continue to support organisations that inspire and promote equality, mental health, and inclusion by offering profound help to those who need it most.
