Transformative Identities: New Conceptual Exhibition in Minthis

We are happy to announce that Minthis has opened a new art-destination at the heart of the resort. Located within the Plateia, a social and central square alive with a sophisticated cocktail bar, new Mediterranean dining experience called Amaracus and a boutique fashion store by KULT, the pop-up art exhibition is in partnership with VELYCHKO.GALLERY.

The conceptual exhibition held at Minthis until 1 August 2023 is titled "Transformative Identities” and is curated by an international cast of artists; Jérôme Dupré la Tour (France), Stella Kapezanou (Greece), Michalis Papamichael (Cyprus) and Olga Stein (Ukraine) and the curator Dimitrios S. Spyrou (Athens).

The exhibition hosted in Paphos and previously in Limassol, has already attracted a significant number of attendees, with approximately 600 visitors during the first weeks and has garnered considerable attention on the thought-provoking artworks on display and social issues artists raise through their practice.

The four invited artists deal with the idea of identity transformation through the specter of migration. The works they created during the residency reflect their unique approach and interpretation of the transformative process migrants go through. The different cultural backgrounds, experiences, and artistic practices of the four artists provide the viewers with interesting insights on the values and multiple facets of migration. Even the objects and materials used for the new works undergo a process of transformation, acquiring new identities and value through the artistic practice".

Minthis is proud to host the gallery, which is the important outcome of the International Art Residency CARV (Cyprus Art Residency Villa) launched by VELYCHKO.GALLERY. This art-initiative is serving as the platform for contemporary artists to have a calm soothing search of new meanings. One of the primary objectives of CARV is to foster the exchange of cultural experiences among artists, creating a space for mutual enrichment and to engage them in the dynamic critical dialogue.
