Cabinet approves bill to regulate remote working

The Council of Ministers has approved a bill aimed to regulate remote working, Labour Minister Yiannis Panayiotou said.

The bill, which will now be tabled for discussion at the House, will provide the potential for greater flexibility at work, he said, adding that it was quite a big deal.

Panayiotou said he hoped the bill would be discussed as soon as possible and passed into the law, to finally regulate this matter.

Asked by reporters if he thought the bill would be discussed before parliament closes for summer recess, the minister said he was hoping the discussion could at least get started before then; and if it is completed, “that will be ideal”.

Otherwise, he said the discussion will continue in the autumn and expressed his certainty that ''through dialogue we will be able to reach a conclusion, which will lead the bill to the Plenary and it will be able to be adopted”.
