Cyprus and China discuss cooperation in tourism sector

Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis met with the Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of China, Li Qun, to exchange ideas, views and suggestions on how to further strengthen cooperation between Cyprus and China in the tourism sector.

According to an official press release, Li Qun was accompanied by the Chinese Ambassador to Cyprus and a small delegation, while it is noted that this is the first time that an official of the Chinese Government has visited the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.

The two agreed to hold an online conference in the second half of July with the aim of eventually signing a Memorandum of Understanding.

During the meeting, Koumis raised the importance of establishing a direct air link between Cyprus and China, while he proposed that June’s discussions are focused on educational and sports tourism. He also proposed creating a plan to promote both countries’ cuisines, while he extended an invitation to Li Qun to participate in the annual tourism exhibition that is in Cyprus.

The Chinese Deputy Minister thanked his Cypriot counterpart for the hospitality and the meeting and invited him to visit China, the statement said.
