AmCham Cyprus suggests practical policy measures that can support increased investment and more

The American Chamber of Commerce in Cyprus (AmCham Cyprus) has announced the publication of its latest policy paper, “Strengthening Cyprus–United States Bilateral Relations.”

As noted in a relevant LinkedIn post, the paper sets out a series of recommendations aimed at further enhancing the economic, commercial, and strategic partnership between the Republic of Cyprus and the United States.

"Building on the substantial progress achieved in bilateral relations in recent years, the publication identifies practical policy measures that can support increased investment, stronger business ties, enhanced connectivity, and deeper people-to-people engagement. Among its key recommendations, the policy paper calls for: Cyprus' accession to the U.S. Visa Waiver Program; Modernization of the Cyprus–U.S. Double Taxation Treaty; Conclusion of a Cyprus–U.S. Social Security (Totalization) Agreement; Establishment of direct air connectivity between Cyprus and the United States; Assessment of the feasibility of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Preclearance Facility in Cyprus," the post notes.

It continues that, "These initiatives have the potential to further strengthen bilateral economic relations, facilitate trade and investment, improve mobility for citizens and businesses, and reinforce Cyprus' role as a strategic partner of the United States in the Eastern Mediterranean."

"As the principal advocate for stronger economic and business relations between Cyprus and the United States, AmCham Cyprus remains committed to contributing constructively to policy discussions and promoting initiatives that advance competitiveness, innovation, investment, and sustainable economic growth. The publication forms part of AmCham Cyprus' ongoing efforts to support a deeper and more dynamic Cyprus–United States partnership and to contribute to a forward-looking policy agenda that benefits both countries," the post concludes.
