The Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) has submitted 33 comments and recommendations as part of the public consultation on the Cyprus National AI Strategy 2032, with a strong focus on turning the strategy’s ambitions into measurable outcomes and practical action.
In a press release, the CCS said it has submitted its 33 comments and recommendations “in a constructive spirit”, acknowledging the extensive work that has already been done to prepare the National Strategy on Artificial Intelligence, and declares its readiness to contribute to its implementation through the participation of its representatives in the various authorities, bodies, and committees expected to be established as part of the strategy’s implementation; a role it officially seeks to play.
The objective of the submission is to strengthen the implementation framework and help ensure that Cyprus moves from AI strategy to AI execution, it said.
The 33 comments and recommendations, it adds, cover critical areas including sustainable multi-year funding, project implementation and accountability, AI infrastructure, data governance, public procurement, workforce development, economic impact, regulatory readiness, accessibility, equality and the governance of emerging technologies such as generative AI and AI agents.
The CCS welcomes the publication of the National AI Strategy 2032 and considers it an important step towards creating a coordinated national approach to Artificial Intelligence, while its Board extends its “warm thanks and congratulations” to the Chief Scientist Demetris Skourides and all the members of the National AI Committee for the outstanding work they are doing in developing the strategy.
Concluding, the CCS said that it considers that the ultimate success of the National AI Strategy should not be measured by the number of initiatives, pilots or programmes launched, but by outcomes such as higher productivity, better public services, a stronger AI workforce, successful technology companies, increased exports, commercialised research, trusted AI deployment and measurable economic and societal value.
