GSP: Historic eighth-place finish for Filippa Fotopoulou at the European Championships

The Pancyprian Gymnastic Association (GSP) has warmly congratulated its athlete, Filippa Fotopoulou, on her outstanding performance in the women's long jump final at the 27th European Athletics Championships, which concluded on Sunday, 16 August, in Birmingham.

As noted in a relevant announcement, "Filippa secured a highly commendable eighth place with a best jump of 6.67 metres, which she achieved on her first attempt with a favourable wind of only +1.5 m/s."

It went on to note that, "The GSP athlete made history by becoming the first Cypriot female athlete to compete in three consecutive European Championships finals. Following her 12th-place finish in Munich in 2022 and her 11th-place finish in Rome in 2024, her eighth-place finish in Birmingham represents the best placing of her career at the championships.@

"This latest achievement reaffirms Filippa Fotopoulou's consistent presence among Europe's leading long jumpers and represents a significant success for both GSP and Cypriot athletics," the announcement concluded.
