The expectations Limassol hoteliers had regarding last-minute bookings seem to be confirmed, as they have now reached last year's levels, with the occupancy rate in August fluctuating around 90%, the President of the Limassol branch of Cyprus Hotel Association PASYXE, Christos Tsanos, has said.
On 23 June, Tsanos had expressed optimism to CNA in connection a reversal of the climate created by the neighbouring war in Iran, following the revision of the countries' travel guidelines. At the same time, he had expressed the expectation that occupancy rates would be much better in the summer months than initially estimated, "although three months do not save an entire year."
In his statements this week Tsanos said that "the characteristic of this year is last-minute bookings and the data confirms our statements at the end of June," and added that "August is moving at the same booking levels as August 2025."
Reservation levels in the city and district of Limassol are around 90% in August, he continued, noting that this was reinforced in the week of 10-17 August, with bookings from domestic tourism.
Regarding the hotel pricing policy, he said that, "we have kept prices similar to last year at many levels, with any increases not exceeding 5%, a good tactic to help both local tourists and others who are interested in returning to our city."
He also reminded that Limassol mainly serves tourists of a higher income class and with increased demands, which requires "keeping your service levels high."
