The Paralimni–Deryneia Municipality is moving to present its new tourism identity and comprehensive destination branding for the area, at an event held in the presence of the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides on Tuesday.
The presentation marks the municipality’s transition into a new era strategic tourism development, aiming to create a modern, unified, and internationally recognisable image for the entire region. The project was implemented in collaboration with internationally renowned brand strategist Peter Economides and aspires to position the municipality as a multidimensional Mediterranean destination offering year-round experiences.
The new strategy offers a comprehensive framework of identity and promotion, seeking to unite Protaras, Paralimni, Deryneia, Frenaros, and Acheritou under a shared narrative, highlighting the unique characteristics of each area. The goal is for visitors to experience the municipality as a complete destination, rather than solely as a summer seaside resort.
Through the new branding, particular emphasis is placed on authenticity, gastronomy, culture, nature, sports and diving activities, as well as the region’s hospitality -elements that align with the evolving demands of the international tourism market.
The strategy comes at a time when modern travelers are seeking high-quality and authentic experiences beyond the traditional “sun and sea” model.
At the same time, the municipality aims to boost visitor numbers outside the peak tourist season, attract new categories of visitors, and support local entrepreneurship, thereby creating added value for the region’s economy. The strategy is also closely aligned with the national tourism policy, which focuses on enriching Cyprus’s tourism product and developing alternative forms of tourism.
The campaign will place importance to the participation of the local community and the private sector in shaping the municipality’s new image. Hoteliers, entrepreneurs, tourism professionals, and organised bodies actively contributed to the process, with the municipal authority investing in a collaborative model that connects strategic planning with the actual visitor experience.
The presentation event will take place Tuesday at 5pm, at the Municipal Events Hall. The programme includes an opening address by the Mayor of Paralimni–Deryneia, Giorgos Nicolettos, a greeting by President Christodoulides, and the main presentation of the strategy by brand strategist Peter Economides.
