Ten Cypriot entities will participate in EDF 2025 projects, Defence Ministry says

In total, ten Cypriot entities have secured participation in the projects of the European Defense Fund (EDF) 2025, with expected funding from the European Commission amounting to approximately14 million, the Ministry of Defence has announced.

As stated, the European Commission on 15 April 15, 2026 announced the results of the evaluation of proposals submitted under the EDF Work Program for 2025. The programme includes funding for 57 projects, with a total budget exceeding one billion euros.

It is added that Cyprus has achieved significant success, with Cypriot small and medium-sized enterprises participating in 16 of the 57 selected projects, a development which, as noted, reflects the Ministry of Defence’s targeted policy to strengthen innovation and competitiveness within the domestic defence and security ecosystem.

The contribution of the Ministry of Defence is also described as decisive, which, as part of its strategy to support research and development, will allocate approximately €1.5 million in national co-funding for the successful proposals.

“The Minister of Defence, Mr. Vasilis Palmas, congratulates Cypriot companies on this significant success, emphasising that the Ministry of Defence, through a coherent policy and targeted actions, is continuously strengthening the development of the local research, innovation, and the defence industry, thereby strengthening Cyprus’s position in the European and international arena,” the statement concludes.
