Sustainable urban development and environmental protection are among the most pressing challenges facing modern societies today. Climate change, increasing waste production, and the need for energy transition are driving governments, organisations, and local authorities to seek practical solutions that can reduce environmental impact and foster more resilient and sustainable cities.
Following last year’s successful event, IMH presents the Harm Reduction Conference 2026, returning for a second consecutive year as a leading platform for knowledge exchange, awareness, and the promotion of innovative approaches.
The conference will take place on Tuesday, 7 April 2026, at the Hilton Nicosia, bringing together senior executives, policymakers, technocrats, and experts, setting new standards of excellence in the field of harm reduction.
In this context, the Harm Reduction Conference 2026 will host the Mayor of Nicosia, Charalambos Prountzos, who will participate in the discussion titled “Harm Reduction in Environmental Sustainability.” The session will explore practical approaches to reducing environmental impact, with a focus on the transition to renewable energy sources, waste reduction through circular economy models, and the mitigation of plastic pollution.
Among the key topics to be addressed are new policies for sustainable energy development, innovative recycling solutions, and the use of modern technologies to create more environmentally friendly urban ecosystems. At the same time, practical measures that can be implemented at a local level will be examined, strengthening the role of cities in the transition toward a more sustainable development model.

Harm Reduction Strategy at the Forefront
As organisations are called upon to respond to multidimensional risks and evolving needs, the strategy of harm reduction is emerging as one of the most effective, realistic, and applicable approaches to limiting negative consequences.
Recent developments in science, technology, and regulatory frameworks demonstrate that the smart use of innovation can lead to safer choices for individuals, society, and the environment.
From mobility solutions that reduce environmental impact to technologically advanced products and services that minimise everyday risks, progress is paving the way toward more sustainable and healthier practices.

The conference is addressed to senior executives of leading companies and organisations in Cyprus, including:
- Board Members
- Chief Executive Officers and senior leadership of organisations and associations
- Marketing Directors, Human Resources Directors, and Heads of ESG strategy
