Inflation in Cyprus remained at extremely low levels in February 2026, with the annual rate standing at 0.1%, according to data released by CySTAT.
Specifically, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) (base 2025=100) declined by 0.12 points in February, reaching 99.86 points from 99.98 points in January 2026. On an annual basis (February 2026 / February 2025) a marginal increase of just 0.06% was recorded.
In year-on-year comparison with February 2025, positive changes were mainly observed in restaurants and accommodation services with a rise of 4.7%, in educational services with 3.7%, in recreation, sports and culture with 2.4%, as well as in agricultural products with an increase of 4.2%. In contrast, strong price reductions were noted in clothing and footwear by 6.8%, in transport by 3.7%, in electricity and water by 9.3%, and in petroleum products by 7.4%.
The largest positive contribution to the annual Consumer Price Index came from catering services, which added 2.82 points, followed by recreation services with 2.79 points and rents with 1.42 points. On the opposite side, the largest negative impact was exerted by petrol with a reduction of 2.28 points, mobile communication services with 1.50 points, and insurance with 1.13 points.
On a monthly basis, that is, compared to January 2026, the Consumer Price Index fell by 0.12%. The largest downward effects were caused by vegetables with a reduction of 0.19 points, electricity with 0.10 points, and overall food and non-alcoholic beverages with 0.08 points. Conversely, a small upward push was provided by clothing items with 0.06 points and rents with 0.05 points.
