German Minister of State for Europe to visit Cyprus

On the occasion of the General Affairs Council (GAC) taking place during Cyprus’ Presidency of the Council of the European Union on 2–3 March, the German Minister of State for Europe, Gunther Krichbaum, is set to visit Cyprus.

According to an official announcement on the visit, during his stay, Minister Krichbaum will take the opportunity to visit the Eratosthenes Center of Excellence in Limassol. He will meet with the Director of the Center, Professor Dr. Diofantos G. Hadjimitsis, and with the Deputy Minister for Research, Innovation and Digital Policy of the Republic of Cyprus, Dr. Nicodemos Damianou.

Discussions will focus on the current state, development and future perspectives of scientific cooperation, including collaboration with German institutions such as the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research, the announcement said. 

The programme also includes a working luncheon hosted by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Cyprus, Dr. Hans Peter Jugel. The event will bring together representatives of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, as well as members of the German shipping and port management sector in Cyprus.

Minister Krichbaum is also anticipated to make statements to the press during his visit.
