Ministry of Finance has announced that actions worth a total of €17.4 million have been implemented for fire-stricken communities in mountainous Limassol, following the devastating blazes in the summer. The money was allocated within the framework of the Integrated Support Plan with a total budget of €89.6 million, decided by the Cabinet.
Τhe Treasury of the Republic in an announcement says that the expenses have been financed exclusively from the state budget, without the use of contributions from citizens or organised groups, which continue to be held in a separate bank account.
A more detailed statement will follow as to how this sum from contributions will be allocated, the Treasury says.
As regards the support scheme for businesses, 70% or 452.6 thousand euro under the Financial Assistance Plan for Tourist Accommodations affected has been implemented, 67% (3,331.8 thousand euros) of the payment of initial financial assistance as minor assistance to all affected farmers and livestock farmers, 13% (2,046.7 thousand euros) of the Emergency Special Plan to cover affected farmers and livestock farmers and 15% (461.5 thousand euros) of the Investment Plan for affected farmers who do not fall under the Emergency Special Plan.
In relation to the support for affected communities, the Treasury says that 93% of works to restore water supply and implement a grant plan for the supply of generators to community water infrastructures has been implemented.
Moreover 81% of the protection interventions in watercourses that affect residential areas and 100% of the One-off Communities Grant have been implemented.
Regarding household support the Treasury announced that 103% (2,259 thousand euros) of the one-off aid for fire victims was delivered while, 5% (2,371.4 thousand euros) of compensation for damage to houses and 15% (636.9 thousand euros) of Civil Defense - Housing Subsidy actions have been implemented.
More statements will follow as regards the progress of the implementation of all actions, the Treasury said.
