“The central objective is to substantially strengthen the role of citizen dialogue and the transition from consultation to policy formulation,” said CARDET Executive Director Dr. Charalambos Vrasidas has said.
In his address at the Kick-Off Event of the EU Presidency Project (EUPP5), Dr. Vrasidas underlined the importance of a more inclusive model of participation, based on shared responsibility at the global level, with a focus on civil society and its role in international solidarity.
As he stated, EUPP5 is part of a strategically aligned initiative that aims to substantially strengthen the voice of citizens, through structured dialogue and active participation in policy-making. He stressed that the Center for the Advancement of Research and Development in Educational Technology (CARDET's) role in the project is coordinating, noting that "we are proud as an organisation to undertake the coordination of the project."
Referring to the philosophy and operation of CARDET, Dr. Vrasidas pointed out three key characteristics that, as he said, determine the organisation's contribution: the quality of its human resources, the network of collaborators and the fact that its actions are based on empirical data. As he emphasised, CARDET's work "is not based on theoretical discussions, but on what research and applied practices demonstrate."
In closing, he referred to an upcoming presentation regarding the organisation's contribution to the national strategy for mental health and improving young people's access to relevant services, underlining that such interventions require strong and substantial collaborations.
