Paphos' air connectivity with Germany strengthened following Ryanair and Lufthansa announcements

The Paphos Regional Tourism Board (ETAP) has, with particular satisfaction, welcomed the significant enhancement of Paphos' air connectivity with Germany for the summer season of 2026, through Ryanair and Lufthansa.

Ryanair is strengthening its flight schedule, offering a number of direct flights from various German airports to Pafos International Airport, substantially contributing to facilitating access, boosting demand and further establishing the city as an attractive Mediterranean destination for German tourism.

More specifically, based on its flight schedule, nine incoming flights are expected to be operated per week as follows: two incoming flights per week from Berlin -Brandenburg, Cologne and Düsseldorf and three incoming flights per week from Memmingen - Munich.

At the same time, Lufthansa, one of Europe's leading airlines, will connect Munich with Paphos with three regular weekly flights during the summer season of 2026, offering high-quality services and expanding travel options for visitors from Germany, as well as from other markets connected through the company's international network.

There is also movement among tour operators to increase their programmes to Paphos.

In a statement, the Executive Manager of ETAP Paphos, Nasos Hadjigeorgiou, commented, "The strengthening of air connections with Germany is a strategically important development for the Paphos Region. The new and increased flights create significant prospects for further development of tourism, extension of the tourist season, attraction of quality visitors and strengthening of the local economy.

We warmly thank the airlines for their trust in Paphos and we will continue to work systematically with Hermes airports, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and other partners to maintain and enhance connectivity with key European markets."

Unfortunately, to date, Cyprus' performance on the German market is not satisfactory, if one considers that out of the 75 million outbound trips from Germany, Cyprus attracts only approximately 250,000 arrivals, i.e. 0.33%, while Crete has 1.6 million arrivals, Rhodes 1 million, and Mallorca 4.3 million arrivals," he said.

Already due to developments, he emphasises, ETAP is adjusting its action plan with participation in the FREE Munich 2026 exhibition in January, examining possible adaptation of the digital campaign with an emphasis on the German market, contacts with tour operators and airlines for joint efforts and strengthening their programs to Paphos, as well as initiatives to host German journalists/bloggers and tour operators in the region.

"Paphos continues to evolve as one of the most competitive, modern and quality destinations in the Mediterranean, offering authentic experiences, rich cultural heritage and high-level tourist infrastructure," Hadjigeorgiou concludes.
