In the new issue of GOLD, coming out on Sunday, 19 October, Eurobank presents Cyprus–India: A New Chapter Unfolds (click here). In this issue, we examine the deepening ties with India and its role in shaping this promising East–West relationship.
Cyprus has long been a major investor in India (ranked as one of the top ten, with cumulative investments reaching US$14.65 billion between April 2000 and March 2025). These investments as FDI equity inflows are in sectors including services, computer and software, auto manufacture, manufacturing industries, real estate, cargo handling, construction, shipping and pharmaceuticals. Now, the relationship is maturing further as India seeks access not only to our own admittedly small market but, more importantly, to 500 million potential customers in the European Union, thanks to Cyprus’ EU membership and its unique business offering.
Economic relations have been steadily growing in recent years: in 2021, MoUs were signed between the investment agencies of the two countries to facilitate partnerships between businesses in Cyprus and India and to drive capital in both directions. These agreements and other related initiatives aim to foster a stronger investment relationship by creating a platform for knowledge exchange, capital flow, and deeper business synergies between the two countries, particularly in sectors like technology and innovation via the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).
In this cover story, key diplomatic and business figures from both countries present the past, present and future state of Cyprus-India relations:
