Wizz Air has celebrated the milestone of 10 million passengers to and from Cyprus, as well as the fifth anniversary of its base in Larnaca.
The 18 September event took place in collaboration with Hermes Airports at Larnaka International Airport in the presence of Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works Dr. Marina Ioannou Hasapi, Permanent Secretary of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism Dr. Costas Constantinou, Ambassador of Hungary to Cyprus Krisztina Lakos, Hermes Airports CEO Eleni Kaloyirou, Mayor of Larnaka Andreas Vyras and Deputy Mayor Iason Iasonides along with numerous tourism stakeholders.
The celebration featured a ceremonial cake-cutting, and, before the big celebration, Wizz Air surprised five lucky winners with five 'Golden Tickets' during the flight carrying the ten millionth passenger to Cyprus, as a gesture of appreciation for their trust and loyalty.
In light of the milestone celebrations, Wizz Air also announced a special promotion, offering a 10% discount for passengers flying from Cyprus between November and March.
With Cyprus being a key strategic market in its network, Wizz Air continues to expand its presence on the island by launching 10 new routes in the upcoming months, including the airline’s first-ever departures from Paphos. Tickets are already available from Larnaca to Barcelona, Gyumri, Skopje, Suceava, Timisoara, Tirana, Tuzla, Venice and from Paphos to Yeravan and Warsaw, enhancing the country’s connectivity, and solidifying the airline's role as a market leader in Cyprus, an announcement from the company noted.

Andras Rado, Head of Communications at Wizz Air, meanwhile, expressed his gratitude for this huge milestone in Cyprus. He stated, “We are proud to celebrate this remarkable milestone of 10 million passengers to and from Cyprus, along with five years of operations at our sunny Larnaka base. Together, we are creating real value with a positive impact on travellers, the tourism and the economy of our country. Building on this momentum, we look ahead to carry this momentum forward, establishing Cyprus as a true year-round destination and shaping the airports of the next generation.”
The announcement also comes as Wizz Air embarks on its Customer First Compass transformation plan, a €14 billion investment which puts customers at the heart of the airline’s operations. This includes 'My Journey', a new in-app feature which will transform the way passengers track and manage their flights easily on their mobile devices.
"Celebrating 10 million passengers is just the beginning. Wizz Air is ready for the next chapter with Cyprus on board. Let’s Wizz!," the airline's announcement concluded.
