Energy Ministers of Cyprus and Israel discuss progress of consultations on gas fields and GSI

Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, George Papanastasiou and his Israeli counterpart, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Eli Cohen held a meeting on Tuesday in Tel Aviv, during which they discussed about the progress of the consultations between the two countries for the conclusion of an agreement regarding the “Aphrodite” and “Ishai” gas fields. 

According to a press release by the Cypriot Ministry, the two officials also talked about the need to implement the geostrategic project of the Israel-Cyprus-Greece electrical interconnection (Great Sea Interconnector, GSI).

Papanastasiou, who paid a one-day working visit to Israel, also participated in a business forum, where he discussed with interested businesspersons cooperation prospects and investment opportunities in Cyprus.

The Minister represented the government of Cyprus at an evening event organised by the Embassy of Cyprus in Tel Aviv, on the occasion of the anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Cyprus.
