With popular British reality TV series like The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE) and Geordie Shore under his belt, it is no surprise that Cypriot producer Constantinos Nikiforou – and his film production studio Caretta Films – was chosen by Netflix to produce the Honeymoon part of Love Is Blind UK in Peyia.
Love Is Blind UK’s second season is currently streaming on Netflix, with a new group of singletons hoping to find love on the show. In season two of Netflix’s unconventional dating experiment, which is available now to stream, contestants take a less conventional approach to modern dating by choosing someone to marry without ever meeting them face to face, until they commit to each other with an engagement.

They then move in together to plan their wedding as they find out if their physical connection is as strong as the emotional bonds they developed in the pods.

It is this part, Love Is Blind UK Honeymoon, that was filmed in Cyprus, at Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort in Paphos, last September.

Host Emma Willis called it 'the island of love', while the contestants can regularly be heard marvelling at the stunning views and scenery.

“I have cooperated with a number of reality shows, including TOWIE and Geordie Shore, so I believe this is why I was approached,” Nikiforou explains when asked how he got the job. “These are indeed very big shows in the UK, though they are not suited to everyone. But when you see that a single episode attracts 5.5 to 6 million viewers worldwide, it’s quite a big thing.”

Netflix explained where, when and how they wanted it, and Caretta Films got to work, he added.
Of the experience Nikiforou recalls, “It was a lovely experience and it was great working with professionals. They are extremely professional; it’s not ‘it’s a reality show, lets have fun’, they are extremely serious about their work”.

So does he think Cyprus’ film industry has potential? “Yes. But we are at an embryonic stage right now, I’d say”.
